Iā€™m just going to write this once more: $1,000,000 USD Candy Crush Tournament.

The massively popular game Candy Crush held itā€™s fifth edition of the yearly tournament, with a record 15 million players competing this year. A total of 2.2 billion levels were completed and more than 11.4 trillion candy was collected.

The winner who took home $500,000 of the total share, was Tiago P from Portugal. A huge congratulations to Tiago, who can now purchase a tremendous amount of real-life candy from his winnings!

So the next time one of your friends tell you gaming is a waste of time, just let them know that even Candy Crush is a serious esport :-)

Iā€™m curious to see which other games will follow this path of going ā€œesportā€. Generally mobile esports is a big industry with high viewership, so who knows - maybe weā€™ll get all sorts of mobile games as esports soon!
