🎮 Mobile Games & Exclusive Titles… Why?

Hades 2, a sequel to one of the best-rated roguelikes of all time, is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. And while Netflix brought the first Hades game to mobile, it’s only out on iOS. But why is that?…

In most cases, the short answer is that everyone from Nintendo to Apple still believes they need exclusive games to sell their consoles or subscriptions like Apple Arcade. And they’re willing to pay developers millions of dollars for that timed exclusivity.

Honestly, given how brutal the mobile games business can be, I don’t blame developers for taking whatever money they can get from companies like Apple, Netflix, and the like. But it sure does suck for the millions of players who can’t access the games.

Exclusivity has been around forever in the console market, but it’s slowly creeping into mobile too, thanks to the rise of subscription services like Crunchyroll Games, Halfbrick+, Netflix, and Apple Arcade.
