🎮 Apple is launching a Games app this Fall

After being forced to allow developers to handle in-app purchases outside of the App Store ecosystem, Apple is now doubling down on games by launching a new “Apple Games” app this Fall.

According to the announcement, this new app will include:

  • Social features like achievements, friend lists, and leaderboards

  • Curated game collections and personalized recommendations

  • A list of installed games + info about which games have controller support

  • In-game events created by game devs

Whether the app will be useful for discovering anything but the 100-200 most popular games, time will tell. But it’s interesting to see Apple investing in this space.
